How to get your videos seen by new people for free
To get your videos seen by new people for free, post them where every new clip is tested with strangers and ranked on how they respond, not on your follower count. Then give each clip more doors in, such as a category, searchable caption words, a page search engines can read and a shareable file that keeps your name on it. Run the same routine every week and judge it by views from non-followers.

To get your videos seen by new people for free, post them where a feed shows every new clip to strangers and ranks it on how those strangers respond, not on how many followers you have. Then give each clip more than one way in, such as a category people browse, words people search for, a page search engines can read, and a file people can forward with your name still on it. Repeat that every week on a fixed routine and distribution stops being luck.
Most small creators lose at this step, not in the edit. They post a decent video in one place and wait for followers who are not there yet. This guide is about the other half of the job, putting the clip in front of people. For making the video itself, our guide on how to go viral on Instagram Reels covers hooks and retention, and the best way to grow on social media covers picking platforms and a 90-day plan.
Viewzar publishes this blog and runs one of the feeds recommended below, so weigh that part knowing it is ours.
Why small creators struggle to get their videos seen
Three things usually go wrong, and none of them is about talent.
- They post into follower-first spaces. A WhatsApp status, a personal Facebook profile or a long YouTube video on a topic nobody searches is shown mainly to people who already know you. With a small audience, that starts at almost zero.
- They give each clip one door. One platform, a caption with no searchable words, no category, nothing a stranger could find a week later. When the first push ends, the clip is gone.
- They judge the wrong number. Follower count barely moves in the first few months. Views from people who do not follow you move much earlier, and that is the number that tells you whether your distribution works.
A good video is half the job. The other half is giving strangers enough ways to bump into it.
Where new people actually find videos
Every free route to a new viewer goes through one of five doors. Aim to send every clip through at least three.
| Door | How a stranger arrives | What you control |
|---|---|---|
| Recommendation feeds | A feed shows your clip to people who do not follow you, then shows it more if they respond | Where you post, the first frame, the category |
| Browsing a topic | Someone opens a category, a hashtag page or a topic they already care about | Category, hashtags, how specific the subject is |
| Search | Someone types what they want into Google, YouTube or an app's search box | Words in the caption, title and on-screen text |
| Shares | Someone forwards your clip on WhatsApp, in a DM or a group | How useful it is to one person, whether your name stays on it |
| Other creators | A collab or a mention puts you in front of their viewers | Who you work with and how you tag them |
Paid ads are a sixth door, and this guide leaves it out on purpose. Everything below costs time, not money.
How to get your videos seen on recommendation feeds
Recommendation feeds are the biggest free door because they show clips to people who have never heard of you. Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and our own feed all work this way. What differs is how crowded each one is and how fairly a newcomer's clip gets its first test.
These practices help on any feed. They come from experience, not from published platform rules.
- Post where a new clip gets a fair first test. A feed that gives every new clip an early push gives a small creator the same first chance as a large one. Where your follower count decides the first audience, you start behind.
- Give one idea several tests. The same clip, posted natively on two or three feeds, gets two or three separate tests with different audiences. Instagram has said it favours original content and is less likely to recommend reels carrying another app's watermark, so upload your own clean export to each place rather than a copy downloaded from somewhere else.
- Make the first frame readable with no context. Strangers do not know you. A first frame that shows the subject (the dish, the gadget, the finished hairstyle) tells them at a glance whether the clip is for them, and the right people stay.
If you already have a library of old reels, you have more feed tests waiting than you think. Our guide to repurposing your Instagram Reels covers how to give them a second run.
How to get found by people browsing a topic
Category and hashtag pages are where people go when they already want something. Someone opening a Home and kitchen feed is looking for kitchen clips, which makes them a far better viewer for your pressure cooker hack than a random scroller.
- Pick the one category that fits. A cooking clip filed under Funny and novelty is shown to people who wanted a laugh, and they swipe away. Wrong viewers who leave early are worse than fewer viewers who stay.
- Use three to five hashtags that describe the clip. #airfryerrecipes and #puneeats describe something. #viral and #trending describe nothing, and nobody browsing them is looking for you.
- Make the subject specific. "A ₹1,200 study lamp tested for a week" belongs to a topic. "My new lamp" does not.
How to get your videos found in search
Search is the slowest door and the one that keeps working longest. A clip that matches what people type can keep finding viewers months after the feed has moved on.
- Write the caption as the search. Put the words someone would type at the start. "Paneer bhurji in 10 minutes, hostel style" beats "Sunday vibes". Instagram, YouTube and most video apps match searches against the words you give them.
- Say it and show it. Name the product, the place or the topic out loud and in on-screen text, so a viewer who wants it later knows what to type.
- Use the words Indians actually search. If people type "kurta set under 1000", write that, not "affordable ethnic co-ord".
- Post where each clip gets its own page. A video with its own web page, carrying a title, a description and the caption, is something search engines can read and list. A clip that lives only inside an app is much harder for Google to see. Being readable does not guarantee a ranking, but a page that cannot be read can never rank at all.
How to make videos people pass on, with your name still on them
Shares reach people no algorithm would have chosen for you. In India a huge amount of video moves through WhatsApp, in family groups, college groups and housing society groups, travelling far from where it started.
The problem is that forwarded videos often lose their maker. A screen recording or a re-uploaded copy can reach thousands of people and none of them know who made it. Two fixes:
- Put your handle inside the frame. A small, steady @username in one corner survives screen recordings and re-uploads.
- Post where downloads keep your name. On our feed, a downloaded clip carries a small logo and the poster's @username, so the copy that lands in your aunt's group still says who made it.
The clips that get forwarded are the ones useful to one particular person, such as the friend moving to Bengaluru or the cousin who just bought an air fryer. Every forward is a new viewer you did not have to find.
How to borrow other creators' audiences
- Collab with creators your size in a neighbouring niche. A fitness creator and a healthy-recipes creator share viewers without competing for them. Instagram's Collab posts put one reel on both profiles.
- Tag what you feature. When a clip shows a café, a brand or another creator, @mention them in the caption. Some will reshare it to their own followers, and that reshare costs you nothing.
- Comment usefully on bigger accounts in your niche. A comment that adds something, like a tip, a local detail or a correction, gets read by people who care about the topic. "Nice video, check my page" gets ignored.
Never buy views or followers, and stay out of engagement pods. Bought viewers do not watch, and on any feed that ranks clips on response, a clip that people do not watch is a clip that gets shown less.
How the Viewzar feed shows small creators' videos to new people
It is a full-screen, vertical feed of short product clips, like Reels or TikTok, in the browser. Anyone can watch the Viewzar feed without an account or an app, on a phone or a computer, so a link you share opens straight into your clip. Anyone who signs up can post, and all five doors are open for every clip.
- Every new clip gets an early push so it is seen. After that, clips that people watch to the end, like, save, share and comment on are shown more. It does not matter whether you are a brand or a creator, or how many followers you have.
- Every category is its own feed. There are eleven categories, including Beauty and skincare, Gadgets and tech, Home and kitchen and Food and drinks. Hashtags in your caption open hashtag pages, and Explore is the grid where people browse by category.
- Every clip has its own page with a title, a short description of what is in the video, your caption, the category and related clips, built so search engines can read and list it.
- Downloads carry your @username and a small Viewzar logo.
- The product details button. Beside like, comment, save and share, any clip that features a product has a product button. Tap it and a panel shows what the product is, where to find it and direct links to it where they are available. Nobody has to scroll your comments asking "what is this, where do I buy it?"
- Your profile keeps them watching. Tapping your name opens viewzar.com/@username. A clip there plays, then the rest of your clips, then carries on into the feed. You can pin up to three clips to the top, and your Shop tab with your Viewzar Shop products sits beside your clips.
- You see whether distribution works. Each clip shows views, average watch time, how much people watched to the end, and downloads. A view counts every time someone opens the clip in the player.
Posting works like Instagram. Pick an MP4 or MOV, choose a cover from any frame or upload one, write a caption with hashtags, @mentions and links, choose a category and post. The clip goes live once its video is ready, usually within a few minutes, with no waiting for approval.
It fits best if your clips show something people can use, cook, wear, try or buy. What the feed gives you is reach, and a shop one tap from every clip, which our guide on how posting videos brings buyers to your shop explains.
A weekly routine to get your videos seen for free
This routine assumes three new clips a week and about four hours of distribution work on top of making them. Adjust the count, not the order.
| Day | Distribution task | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | For this week's three clips, write a searchable first caption line, choose one category and three to five descriptive hashtags | 30 minutes |
| Tuesday | Post clip 1 natively on your home platform and on a second feed, each from your own clean export, handle in frame | 30 minutes |
| Wednesday | Send clip 1 to the few people or groups it is genuinely useful for, and leave three useful comments on bigger accounts in your niche | 20 minutes |
| Thursday | Post clip 2 the same way, then reply to every comment on every platform | 40 minutes |
| Friday | Post clip 3, and message one creator your size with a specific collab idea | 40 minutes |
| Saturday | Repost one old clip from your archive with a new cover and caption, and swap a pinned clip if a newer one has done better | 30 minutes |
| Sunday | Review the week's numbers and write down one change for next week | 30 minutes |
Send clips only where they help. Dropping links into every group you belong to gets you muted, not watched.
How to read the week's numbers
Look at each clip with one question: did strangers see it, and did the ones who saw it stay?
| What you see | What it means | What to change |
|---|---|---|
| Most people watch to the end, but views stay low | The clip is good and distribution is the problem | Add a door, such as another feed, better search words or a sharper category |
| Plenty of views, few watch to the end | The wrong people are arriving | Check the category, the hashtags and whether the first frame promises what the clip delivers |
| Downloads or shares are high | People are passing it on | Make three more clips useful to the same kind of person |
| One platform does far better than the others | That audience wants this format | Post that format there more often |
On Instagram, Insights splits views between followers and non-followers for professional accounts. On our feed, compare each clip's watched-to-the-end share with your usual. Give the routine eight weeks before you decide anything, because a single week of results is mostly noise.
The bottom line
Getting your videos seen for free is a distribution job, not a talent contest. Post where new clips get a fair test, give each clip a category, searchable words, a readable page and a shareable file with your name on it, and run the same routine every week. The Viewzar feed was built so that small creators get every one of those doors on every clip, so sign up for Viewzar and post your first clip.

How can I get my videos seen without paying for ads?
Post on recommendation feeds that show new clips to non-followers, put the words people search for in your caption, choose an accurate category and hashtags, and make clips worth forwarding to one specific person. Collab with creators your size and tag what you feature. Run it as a weekly routine and judge it by views from non-followers, not by followers.
Why are my videos not getting views when I have few followers?
Usually because they are posted only where followers see them, or given just one door, such as one platform and a caption with no searchable words. If most viewers watch to the end but views stay low, the clip is fine and the distribution needs work. If viewers leave early, fix the first frame or the category before posting more.
Is it okay to post the same video on several platforms?
Yes, if it is your own video and you upload a clean export to each platform natively. Instagram has said it favours original content and is less likely to recommend reels with another app's watermark, so never download a copy from one app and re-upload it to another. Rewrite the caption for each place.
Do hashtags still help people find videos?
A few accurate ones help people browsing a topic, and on some platforms hashtags open their own pages. Three to five that describe the clip beat thirty generic ones. Searchable caption words and the right category usually matter more.
How does the Viewzar feed decide which clips to show?
Every new clip gets an early push so it is seen. After that, clips people watch to the end, like, save, share and comment on are shown more, whoever posted them and however many followers they have. The feed also puts clips a viewer has not seen first and leans towards the categories they pick or watch, as our guide to how the feed works explains.
How do creators earn from the Viewzar feed?
The feed gives a creator reach, a profile where viewers keep watching, and a Shop tab one tap from every clip, where you earn commission on each unit sold through your own link or code. Viewzar's separate pay-per-view campaigns pay per 1,000 verified Instagram views.
