# What is a creator shop, and how does buying from one work?

A creator shop is a page of products a creator has chosen and recommends, where each product is sold and shipped by the brand that makes it. You open a product from the creator's link, code, clip or profile, pay the brand's listed price at checkout and track the order to your door. The creator earns a commission from the brand on the sale, and you pay the same price either way.

A creator shop is a page of products a creator has chosen and recommends, kept together on their profile, where every product is sold and shipped by the brand that makes it. The creator picks and the brand sells. You pay the brand's listed price, the brand packs and ships your order, and the creator earns a commission from the brand for sending you there.

That is the whole idea in three sentences. The rest of this guide walks through what you actually see and do when you buy from a creator shop, who is responsible for what, and how to tell a good one from a weak one. Viewzar publishes this blog and runs Viewzar Shop, so we use it as the worked example throughout, but the questions to ask apply to any creator shop you come across.

## What is a creator shop?

Think of the creator you follow for skincare, kitchen gadgets or gym wear. You have watched them use a product in a reel, then seen a hundred people ask "where is this from?" in the comments. A creator shop is their answer, kept in one place so nobody has to ask again.

A creator shop has three parts:

- **The creator's picks.** A selection the creator chose, often with a few favourites pinned at the top. It reflects their taste, not a whole catalogue.
- **The brands' listings.** Each product opens a listing run by the brand itself, with its own price, photos, delivery terms and return policy.
- **A checkout.** You pay, give an address and get an order you can track, like any careful online purchase.

What a creator shop is not is the creator's own warehouse. The creator never touches the stock. They do not pack your parcel, set the price or decide whether a return is accepted. The brand does all of that. The creator's job is choosing products worth showing you, and showing them honestly.

> A creator shop is a recommendation you can act on. The creator picks, the brand sells, and you buy from the brand.

## How is a creator shop different from other ways creators sell?

Creators sell things in several ways, and each works differently for you as a buyer. Here is a plain comparison.

| How the creator sells | Who you buy from | Who ships | Who sets the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| A creator shop | The brand that makes the product | The brand | The brand |
| A list of affiliate links | Whichever site each link opens | The seller on that site | That seller |
| The creator's own merch or product line | The creator's own business | The creator's business | The creator |
| A sponsored post with a link | The brand's own website | The brand | The brand |

A creator shop and a list of affiliate links look alike from the outside, since both are a creator pointing you to products. The difference is where you land. A list of links scatters you across sites, each with its own checkout, its own sellers and its own policies. A creator shop keeps the picks, the brand listings and the checkout together, so you see the seller and the terms before you pay.

How far to trust a recommendation in the first place is its own question. Our guide on [whether you can trust the products influencers recommend](/blog/can-you-trust-products-influencers-recommend) covers disclosure, how commission affects what creators say, and how to read a review video critically.

## How buying from a creator shop works, step by step

Here is the full journey, from seeing a product to holding it. The steps follow our own shop, but a well-run creator shop anywhere has the same shape.

### 1. You find the product

You rarely start at a shop's front door. You usually arrive from one of these:

- **A product clip on a video feed.** On the [Viewzar feed](/feed), a clip that features a product has a product details button beside like, comment, save and share. It shows what the product is, where to find it, and direct links where they are available.
- **A creator's link.** In their Instagram bio, a story or a WhatsApp message.
- **The creator's Shop tab.** On their profile, with all their picks in one place.
- **A brand's store.** Every product that brand sells, in one store.
- **The shop's home page.** Browsing by category or searching for something specific.

Every route ends on the same page, the product page. If you are trying to track down something you only saw in passing, our guide on [how to find a product you saw in a video](/blog/how-to-find-a-product-you-saw-in-a-video) has the tricks that work on any app.

### 2. You read the product page

This is where you decide. A good product page answers every question you would ask a shopkeeper across the counter. On our shop it shows:

- Photos and video of the product
- The price, marked "Inclusive of all taxes", with the MRP and how much you save on it
- The brand's name, with a "New seller" badge if the brand is new
- An estimated delivery date
- The brand's own returns and delivery terms
- Clips featuring the product, so you can see it being used
- Reviews from people who bought it
- **Seller details:** the brand's legal name, GSTIN, address and a grievance contact

The page also says who the seller is, under "Sold by". That line matters more than it looks. It tells you exactly who you are buying from and whose return policy applies.

### 3. You check out

1. Sign in.
2. Choose a saved delivery address or add a new one.
3. Type a creator's code if you have one. It credits that creator, and if the brand offers a discount on creator codes, the discount applies to your order.
4. Pay online at checkout.

You see the final price before you pay. A creator's code can only lower it, never raise it. The full reasoning is in our explainer on [whether buying through a creator's link or code costs you more](/blog/does-buying-through-a-creator-link-cost-more).

### 4. You track the order

After paying you get a confirmation, and the order appears on your Orders page. It moves through five stages:

1. Ordered
2. Packed
3. Shipped
4. Out for delivery
5. Delivered

Once it ships, the courier's tracking link sits on the same page. And if you change your mind, you can cancel the order any time until it ships.

### 5. You ask for help if something is wrong

If the product arrives damaged, wrong or not as described, you ask for help from the order page itself, including a return or replacement under the brand's policy. You do not need to hunt for an email address or message the creator. The request is tied to the order, so everyone can see what you bought and when.

## Who sells, who ships and who you deal with

This is the part people find confusing, so here it is plainly.

- **The brand is the seller.** Its legal name and GSTIN are on the product page. It sets the price, holds the stock, packs the order and ships it.
- **The brand's policy decides returns and replacements.** You can read that policy on the product page before you buy, not after something goes wrong.
- **The platform runs the checkout.** On our shop, that means the checkout, your Orders page and the tracking you see.
- **The creator recommends.** They chose the product and made the content that brought you to it. They do not handle your order or your parcel.

Why does this setup work in your favour? Because you are buying from the brand that makes the product, not from an unknown reseller of it. The business that knows the product best is the one shipping it, with its name and tax details on show. And the person who showed you the product has nothing to gain from hiding who that business is.

## What does the creator get when you buy?

The creator earns a commission from the brand on sales that come through their link or code. The brand pays that commission from its side of the sale, the way it would pay for an advert or a display in a shop. It is not added to your bill.

So you pay the same listed price whether you use the creator's link or not. Using the link or code simply tells the brand which creator sent you, and that creator gets paid for the work of showing you the product.

Creator shops carry a line telling you the creator earns a commission on purchases. That is good practice everywhere. In India, ASCI's guidelines for influencer advertising expect creators to disclose paid and affiliate content, for example with #ad or a plain "I earn a commission". A creator who tells you how they earn is easier to trust than one who hides it.

What you will not see is how much the creator earns on a sale. Commission figures are shown to creators, never to buyers. That number sits between the creator and the brand, and it does not change what you pay.

## How a creator shop works on Viewzar Shop

Viewzar Shop is where product brands sell from their own stores and creators build shops from those products. Here is what that means for you as a buyer, point by point.

**Every creator has a Shop tab on their profile.** It holds the products that creator picked, with their favourites pinned at the top. Each product opens its listing in the brand's store, and the creator's link goes with you, so the creator is credited when you buy.

**Every store is checked before it goes live.** Before a brand can sell anything, its business and GST details are checked, a sample of its product is checked, and a test delivery is made. A brand that is new to the shop carries a "New seller" badge, so you always know when you are buying from a fresh store.

**The brand sells, and the checkout is run for you.** Every product page says who it is sold by, with the brand's legal name, GSTIN, address and grievance contact. You pay online at a single checkout, whichever creator or clip brought you there.

**Reviews come only from buyers.** Only people who bought a product can review it. Reviews show once three buyers have rated a product, each under the reviewer's first name, so a single glowing or angry rating cannot paint the whole picture.

**Your order lives in one place.** The confirmation, the five tracking stages, the courier's link, cancelling before it ships and asking for help all happen from your Orders page. If a brand turns down a return that its own policy allows, our team steps in.

**Clips sit beside the products.** The product page shows clips featuring the product, and a clip in the feed or on [Explore](/explore) leads straight to the product through its product details button. You can watch the thing being used before you decide.

## How to buy well from any creator shop

Whichever creator shop you use, run through this before you pay. It takes two minutes.

1. **Watch the product in use.** A clip of someone actually using it tells you more than five studio photos. Check the size against a hand or a familiar object.
2. **Find the seller.** Look for the legal name, GSTIN and address. If a shop will not tell you who is selling, think twice.
3. **Read the return policy before you pay.** Know whether the product can be returned or replaced, and in what condition.
4. **Check the delivery estimate.** Especially for a gift or anything you need by a date.
5. **Read the reviews and count them.** A handful of detailed reviews from real buyers beats a wall of five-star ratings from nobody in particular.
6. **Compare the price with the MRP.** The saving shown should make sense, and the price should say it includes taxes.
7. **Look for the disclosure.** A creator who says they earn a commission is following the rules.
8. **See more than one creator.** If several creators show the same product, watch two or three. You get a fairer view than one person's enthusiasm. Our guide on [how to shop smarter with video reviews](/blog/how-to-shop-smarter-with-video-reviews) goes deeper on this.

## The bottom line

A creator shop is a creator's picks, sold and shipped by the brands that make them, with one checkout and one place to track your order. You pay the brand's listed price, the creator earns a commission from the brand, and the brand's own policy covers returns and replacements. Viewzar Shop shows the seller's legal details on every product, checks every store before it goes live, and lets only buyers write reviews, so you can see who you are buying from before you pay.

If you make content yourself and want a shop of your own, you can [sign up as a creator](/signup/creator) and build one from brands' products.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is a creator shop?

A creator shop is a page of products a creator has chosen and recommends, kept together on their profile. Each product is sold and shipped by the brand that makes it, and the creator earns a commission from the brand on sales they bring in. You buy at the brand's listed price.

### Do I pay more if I buy from a creator shop?

No. You pay the same listed price whether or not you use a creator's link or code. The creator's commission is paid by the brand from its side of the sale, and a creator's code can only lower your price, when the brand offers a discount on creator codes.

### Does the creator ship the product?

No. The brand is the seller, so it holds the stock, packs your order and ships it under its own delivery terms. The creator chose the product and showed it to you, but your order is handled by the brand and the shop's checkout.

### What happens if my Viewzar Shop order has a problem?

Start from the order itself. You ask for help from your order page, including a return or replacement under the brand's policy, and the team steps in if a brand turns down a return its own policy allows. Every product page also lists the brand's grievance contact.

### Is buying from a creator shop safe?

It is as safe as the shop behind it, so check who sells, whether the return policy is clear and whether reviews come from real buyers. A good creator shop shows the seller's legal name, GSTIN and address on every product, offers order tracking and lets you cancel before the order ships.

### Can anyone see how much the creator earns from my purchase?

Buyers do not see commission figures. They are shown to creators so they know what a sale is worth, but they never appear on the product page or at checkout. You will see a line on the creator's shop saying they earn a commission on purchases, which is the disclosure that matters to you.
